Knack Costs

Talent Knacks are a bending or focusing of the Discipline magic to better suit the adept's desires or needs. As each adept is unique, Talent Knacks must be developed individually. They can be demonstrated, but not taught.

To develop a Knack, the adept needs to meditate on the flow of the magic involved and her own pattern. For each hour of meditation on the Knack, the adept makes a test against the Knack's learning difficulty (the rank unless otherwise indicated). Use the Karma Ritual Rank plus the Rank of the Talent the Knack is based on for the step number for this test. A failure on this test indicates the adept needs a deeper understanding of the Discipline magic and must raise one of these Talents in order to continue development of this knack. Once the adept has gained one Excellent Success on this test for each rank of the Knack, she understands it well enough to weave it into her Talent. At this point, the required Legend Point cost must be paid. Make a Thread Weaving test against the rank of the Knack. An Excellent success indicates successful alteration of the adept's Discipline magic. If the adept only gains an average or lower success, she will have to wait until her Thread Weaving rank increases to try again, but the development and Legend Points are not lost. Additionally, the meditation does not need to be done in one session.

Developing a talent knack costs the same number of Legend Points as raising the base talent to the rank required to raise the knack. So the cost for a Warrior to learn a knack which requires Rank 5 in Wood Skin is 800 Legend Points.
